Volunteers

Hospice with Heart is always searching within the communities in which we serve for individuals to become volunteers. Each and every one of us has a special talent or gift to share with someone who is in need.

Are you interested in working with a patient or their family to provide emotional support? Could you read to a patient who is too weak to hold a book? Maybe you would be able to help run errands for a patient or caregiver or you may just want to help out in our office.

What ever your talent or gift, Hospice with Heart needs volunteers. In one’s hour of need, every individual deserves a friend, and hospice volunteers make very good friends.

When we honestly ask ourselves which person in our lives means the most to us We often find that it is those who instead of giving much advice, solutions, cures, have chosen rather to share our pain and touch our wounds with a gentle and tender hand.

The friend who can be silent with us in a moment of despair and confusion, who can stay with us in an hour of grief and bereavement, who can tolerate not knowing, not curing, not healing, and face with us the reality of our powerlessness.

That is the friend who cares...

*Hospice with Heart is in the process of implementing a Vigil Volunteer
Team. Vigil volunteers provide an extra level of care to patients and their
families during a time of transition and change. A Vigil volunteer is often
a more experienced vo volunteer who has encountered deaths and understands
the need for companionship at end of life. They also need to be someone who
is flexible and able to respond to patient and family needs during the final
days and hours of life. These volunteers understand the need for some
families to have a calming presence at their side providing support at such
a difficult time. Please contact us if you would be interested in becoming
a part of the vigil volunteer team.
